What would happen if your Senior Pastor announced tomorrow that it was time for a transition?
Or what if an unexpected emergency meant they could no longer serve?
Most churches have bylaws that explain how to hire a new pastor. Far fewer have a plan for what happens before that process begins.
Who leads in the interim?
What role does the board play?
How are decisions communicated?
How do you protect the health and unity of the church?
And how do you prepare for a transition before you are in the middle of one?
Converge MidAtlantic is partnering with Chemistry Staffing to launch a new Succession Planning Cohort designed to help churches answer those questions before they have to.
Beginning in January, Senior Pastors and Board Chairs will work together to develop a plan for three different realities:
-
Long term pastoral succession
-
Short term leadership transitions
-
Unexpected or emergency situations
This is not simply a series of conversations about succession.
By the end of the cohort, your church will have a written succession plan and emergency plan ready to present to your board and incorporate into your church’s strategic and operational plans.
The cohort includes four 90 minute Zoom sessions for Senior Pastors, a dedicated session for Board Chairs, a joint Pastor and Board Chair session, and an individual follow up coaching session for each participating church.
Only 8 Spots Available
Cost: Regular: $3,000 $300 per church for Converge MidAtlantic churches
Meeting Schedule: This cohort will meet regularly throughout the program. Specific dates and times will be established with participants based on the group’s collective availability.
Leadership transitions are difficult enough when you know they are coming. They are much harder when you are trying to create a plan in the middle of one.
This cohort gives your church the opportunity to prepare now, while you have the time and space to think clearly about what a healthy transition should look like.
